I bought a 10/22 take today, it comes with a handy little bag. The only problem is that allot of the scopes are too big for the sleeve inside the bag and i cant close it all the way without removing the scope. I do not want a red dot, i would like to have a compact scope that can reach to at least 150 yards. i don't know how gun scopes work, or if your suppose to buy a scope designed for a specific caliber what compact scope goes good with the ruger 1022 takedown and work with the bag? Please help does anyone have one with a scope? If so please tell me the name of the scope and post a pik thanks!

BSA makes a Sweet 22 scope that is made specifically for .22.

I've got a Nikon Prostaff 4x40 scope on my 10/22 TD but as you said it is too large to fit in the case. I've got it mounted with quick detach rings so it pops on and off easily, though.

If you don't want to go that route, I know UTG makes a small 3-9x32 scope called the "Bug Buster" that a lot of 10/22 TD owners use. It's small enough to fit in the case.

How about a pistol scope with magnification?

Had this problem also. Solved it by modding the gun to butler creek folding stock. Fits in the bag great now and so much better looking. Trigger ,auto bolt release and John mason handguard round out my build.

Still thinking about shorten barrel to 16.5 and threading. Trying to find a way to keep front sight when I do. I want a but wider cheek rest eventually. Always something to do....

PS 3x9_40 on Leopold low twist in rings fits fine now and goes back into bag.

There are some people on rimfire central that can cut thread and move the front sight.

I don't have a break down 10/22 but have similar problems with some of my carry bags.
to see what fits, take a toilet tissue tube and see how it fits with the rifle in the bag.
then also try a paper towel tube as they are close to a full size scope.
this will give you an idea of how large or small your scope can be and still fit in the bag.
remember to account for the rings and mounts, but do consider a quick release style as this will give you great flexibility.

My wife just gave me a 10/22td for our anniversary. The scope I just ordered was a nikon p223 3x32. I have a bushnell banner 1.75-4 but at 10.5 inches long it still wasn't short enuf for clearing everything mounting with proper eye relief and fitting in the bag. The nikon is 8.1 and really is the best way to go.
