To each his (or her) own; I own and like my M&P 15-22 because (a.) it feels like the M16 I had in Vietnam when I wrap my hand around the grip and feel for the selector switch, (b.) it spits bullets as fast as I can pull the trigger and doesn't mind my 4/1 ball-to-tracer loading, (c.) almost anything you can hang on a 5.56/.223 AR can be mounted on a 15-22 (some guys have even mounted fake gas blocks and tubes!), and (d.) it's well made and S&W gives good support (except for stupid; they don't fix stupid). It's not my favorite .22 long-gun anymore, I have a new Henry Golden Boy for that honor; but it is still a damn good rifle and I am proud to own and shoot it. I believe you would be very happy with one also.
