Default Suppress Weapon.

Has anybody tried a suppress .22 for hunting, especially if you want to remain conceal, a Ruger 10/22 has many options with threaded barrels and suppressors and also their 22/45 Threaded Barrel pistol, just a thought.

The 10-22 and the 22/45 both are great suppressor hosts. The only question is your state hunting regs.

Or whether they are even legal in your state.

For the 10/22, a full integrated suppressor works very well. The action itself is kind of noisy tho. Cycles any standard and high velocity ammo, even the cheaper bulk stuff. It does get dirty faster, but thats to be expected. Only main drawback is that its not like an add-on can than can be swapped between several firearms.

I have personally shot an integrally suppressed 10/222. Quiet as hell. I bet most people wouldn't even recognize the noise as a 10/22 action cycling.

i would recomend the savage mk2 fvsr. it runs all 22 ammo except 22wmr from the magazine. 22short cb long long rifle. the ruger 10/22 only runs 22long rifle from the magazine. this really limits its ability to hunt very quietly.

the 22/45 threaded has a drop measured in feet much past 10-15 yards.

i own all three and a silencerco sparrow suppressor.

best rifle is either 10/22 integral or the savage mk2 fvsr

Suppressors on 10/22s and 22/45s are fun. Friend in Florida has both that he swaps a AAC pilot between. Can't hunt legally with them there, though. Legal and fun on the range though with all the right paperwork.

I'll second the bolt action .22 though for real quiet. Sounds like dry firing.

I have an AWC 77-22 & an AWC Mark 3 (both Rugers, of course) & both are extremely quiet & extremely accurate, perfect for hunting. The bolt 77-22 doesn't get dirty quickly, doesn't clack like the 10-22's action & is too fun to shoot!! BTW - a plastic/nylon/composite recoil buffer, replacing the metal one in the 10-22 action, will quiet the 10-22 down nicely! Check your state reg's & then go for it...if legal!

Has anyone ever compared the Savage Mark II and the Ruger 77/22 side by side? I know either one would be a more effective suppressor host than any semi-auto, but never got around to buy one. So which would it be?
