I hate to say this because I don't want to put down anyone or their rifle but my Marlin 60 will shoot out the X ring at 100 yards with a lot less rounds than it took on that target. I've shot groups under .4" at 90 yards with my 60. And as for shooting dime size groups at 25 yards I would give away any rifle I owned that wouldn't do that. Here's a sample of what a Savage MkIIBTV will do at 50 yards. This is a 5 shot group. It won't do it every time but it will get close to it often. 4 shots went into the hole at the end of the triangle. The whole group measured .2"



Here's a few more groups from the same rifle, same distance, all 5 shot groups. My best group with my Savage is .111" (5 shots at 50 yards) and I've shot .118" also.





And here's a group I shot at 90 yards with my Marlin. This is only 3 shots but I've shot other groups like this one.



And just for good measure here's a 5 shot, 50 yard group I shot with my CZ:



I have more but this should be enough to prove my point.

I quit posting targets years ago because nobody believed 'em...what an inexpensive Marlin rifle can do with just a few tweaks is phenominal!!

Fav Marlin Tweaks...
Pillar Bedding or Regular bedding, either way, cuts already tiny groups in HALF!!
Sling & Scope (No Frakkin TASCO, friends don't let friends use TASCO!)
Marlin Adjustable Target Sight (from Numrich for $10) is far better than the original equipment.
Polish the BOLT and Rails!! You do it for your 1911, you should do it for EVERY semi-auto you own!!!

Granted certain years are better than others (2005-2011 SUCKED), but they seem to be getting back on track
now that they're working with NEW CNC equipment...just gotta keep on top of the trained monkey's running the machines...lol!!

Most ppl forget about the best single thing you can do to make the stock 10/22 a literal "tack driver".

I have 4 Marlins from that time period and they're all good. I do have a problem with light strikes on my 925 but I can still get it fixed under warranty. I intend to do just that soon. It's not that bad anyway. But my 60SS, which is a 2009 model, is about the best stock 60 I've ever seen. It's the one that I shot the 90 yard targets with. The thing is just wacky accurate for a semi-auto and it came out of the box that way. I shot those 90 yard groups within the first week I owned it. I have shot a whole bunch of other stuff with it since but I don't really use it as a target rifle much. I do use it for plinking and hunting. It's more accurate than any other Marlin I've owned.

Im bout to buy a takedown in about an hour ..... all the bad press the 10/22 was getting on this thread was making me nervous. Your target tells me the bad press is wrong lol If you can blow the x out at 100yrds w/iron sights. thats damn good enough for me

From what my kids tell me, nothing is better than a 10/22 at 50 yards. I wouldn't know though. They never let me play with them.
