Subsonic for beaver
I need a subsonic round that's not Aguila SSS for beaver within 50 yards. I've tried Remington but it's not too accurate in my 10/22. Opinions?

Need something quiet? Try CCI CB Longs. They will not cycle a 10/22, but should feed well by hand.

i have shot beavers with 22-250s and seen them swim off leaving a trail of blood in teh water. I think you are going to need something a little more than a 22lr.
Why not trap it and then shoot it with a ss out of a pistol.

22lr target ammo for rifles is subsonic and accurate. I am not sure about pistol target in a rifle. Standard velocity ammo is also subsonic but may not be as accurate. Coming down through the sound barrier makes bullets do strange things so they like to stay subsonic for accuracy. Remember, different guns like different ammo and that holds true for target rifles. There is some high velocity target ammo out there so read the label.

I as well have shot beavers with high power rounds and had them swim off to die a slow death. While I used a 22 handgun to finish off many deer and elk in my guiding carrer, they were all wounded and finished off at 10 yards or less. Remember if you miss the very small brain or neck they will escape. Are you that good of a shot 100% of the time in field conditions?

Beavers are pretty tough critters. Be humane and stay away from the .22 rimfire unless you can make that head shot everytime in field conditions. JMHO........

My step brother killed one with standard velocity right through the brain. I'm just trying to find something quieter that will do the same job.

Large caliber air rifle. Crossman has one.
