take it to a reputable gun dealer or gunsmith who has a blue book of gun values and have it appraised. the patent date is not always when it was made but when the original model was patented. it may have the patent date of 1907, but manufactered in 1920. he can give you an estimation of value based on condition and tell you also if it's safe to shoot.
