My stevens is having problems with the semi-auto loading mechanism. the tube is fine but when you cock it to load the bullet into the chamber it shoots out the bottom and jams. any help would be great

There is a really weird little spring that limits the ammo to ONE cartridge at a time. Odds are it is broken, out of place, or backwards. Looks like THIS: Cartridge Guide Spring
It is at the bottom of the magazine tube. Check yours, along with the cartridge elevator. Take it to a smith unless you have a larger than normal vacabulary of cuss words.
