As far as plinking goes my favorite .22 is a 1937 vintage Winchester model 62. While growing up I enjoyed shooting those gallery pumps at the Coney Island arcade. I waited too many years to get one of those .22's because of course I was a man who had to have the big boy toys. Losing all those years of shooting those little .22's was very stupid of me, but better late than never. I can't explain it, but the feel of a pump action .22 can't be compared to anything else where I'm concerned. It also brings me back a little to when I was just a know nothing kid.
Absolutely gorgeous gun! I've always wanted a pump .22, particularly a Winchester. Very, very nice.
In the rifle dept. it's a toss up between the highly accurate Ruger 10/22 Target with the factory hammer forged barrel that I bought the first year production and my fast handling Remington 552 bdl speedmaster that I picked up back in 87'
As far as the 22 handgun plinkers?
I have a blast with a Ruger mkII competition target model, off the bench scoped the mkII competition will out shoot a lot of 22 rifles,it actually out shoots my 552 speedmaster from the bench.
Reminton 552 BDL Speedmaster
50 yard 10 shot group, shot from the 10/22T off the bench.
