the 1022 is like a Boat, a hole in the water into which you throw money that you will maybe see half of it return.

Actually not. Basic 10/22 doesn't need anything. It is reliable and accurate out of the box. The reason there are so many aftermarket things for it is because it is so popular and lends itself to modification. It doesn't need to be modded to work it is just so versatile that you can make it into anything you want.
Most people buy the aftermarket crap to make up for inadequacies of their shooting skills. Easier to blame the gun and throw money at the problem than actually learn how to shoot.

So in the same respect Marlin 60's have fewer aftermarket parts because they are more accurate off the shelf?
I've owned 5 m60's. Two were Glenfield's.
My first Marlin was used so much, it did wear out. I broke the second one, fixed it and gave to my brother.
the first Glenfield shot flawlessly and I sold it to a buddy. The second one only likes cci mini mags. Won't run anything else.
The marlin I still have, is threaded and has a 4-12x40 Bushnell on it. It easily shoots 1/2moa groups out to 100 yards with subsonic Remington through the YHM can.
Those are the only accessories a marlin needs- rings, scope, suppressor, ammo.

Why do you feel it necessary to list your guns?

Don't know if this is a trick question or not, but a suppressor softens the report of a gun firing. Sometimes called a silencer in the movies.

I just knew there had to be something more to you asking that.
