The price is the kicker. I'm not sure on the marlin 60 price, but I think it's about the cheapest good semi auto on the market. For that price though, your probably looking at a good bolt action .22.

Marlin 60 or a remington 597. I love my mossberg 702 plinkster also. My question is what you are going to use it for amd what you want to do to it. As a basic little info advice deal those three are the ones that come to mind brand new. If you shop around at pawn shops you could probably also find anything else used for cheapish.

I may have to look into that. I thought they were about $250.

Marlin 60's run around $159-169 at most sporting goods stores.

Marlin 795 (box-mag-fed) runs around $129 at most stores, can often be found for $99 on sale for Black Friday :)
Add in the $25 Marlin Factory Rebate, and you've got the best deal this year
:D

MAKE SURE its an MM serial...the all digit serials are from CT, and their last year models (start with 90xxxx) SUCK!!
Some of the first ones from the new NY plant have out-of-spec 3/8" accessory rail, no biggie, just call Marlin
and send it back real quick...occasional MM01xxx serials for the most part. Also easy to fix yerself...

My 2009 795 from CT had the rail issue also, I just used a triangle file on it until it was in spec & repainted the receiver with Krylon Flat Black.
I was too into pimping it out at the time & didn't wanna wait 4-6 weeks, LOL

I bought my Ruger 10/22 for just about $200 here locally. It's a great semi.

There is always used guns. Very, very few quality guns ever wear out.

I found an old old R10/22 for cheap, fixed it up and it's spectacular, great old solid craftsmanship, real wood, great parts and very accurate at 100 yards. I might have $150 into it plus my time.

See AR-7.

If it's good enough for the military.....
