I'm not the largest game I would ever hunt with a 22lr is a small fox and that's pushing it

Not that by some unreal luck from the god's will a 22lr take down a whitetail with 1 shot.Especially one behind the shoulder.
No it was about 30-40 yards and it was an island mule deer, if you know what that is, beleave it or not that bullet went right through it, and ware else would u shoot it at that distance in the gut? Hmm I suppose some people don't really know what there firearms are capable of let me guess your one of those people that hunt with a 45/70 or .375 HH mag

No, but a 243 or hell, even a 223 would have been a much better choice. Personally, I use a 308. A rimfire 22 is NOT a responsible hunting caliber for deer.

Well I was 14 years old and all I had was a .22 and at that time it seemed to do the job, don't get me wrong I don't go running around taking crack shots a mule deer witha .22 now days my rifle of choice is the Enfield .303 all I'm sAying is "with a well placed round u can drop a deer with a Duce Duce".

just to point another fact out to you, in most states it is illegal to hunt deer with a rimfire and any caliber 22 or less even in centerfire. but also to be fair, any animal no matter how large can be killed with a 22 rimfire. just a matter of how close do you want to get to an animal who would just as soon have you for dinner though! 45-70 used to be a good all-around game caliber for many years, very good in dense brush and still is. 375 H-H is probably a little overkill for deer sized game, but would work wonders on large elk, moose, caribou and bears. i tend to like to match my caliber and rifle to the game and the conditions i would be hunting in.

Marksman... I think the point of the matter is not to promote such nonsense as shooting a deer with a .22LR. It is not only unethical, it is illegal. Okay you were 14 and stupid, don't give others any dumb ideas.

I'm sorry but used to be and still is are two entirely different things and I'm almost sure that mule deer don't eat people and ok sorry a .22 COULD KILL ANYTHING if it was shot in the right spot at the right range. You know that .22s were used to kill people? What make u think that your any stronger then a f- ing deer. Thay just outlaw'd it because to many **** heads don't know how to shoot.

use to be and still is sometimes the same thing, check the sales of 45-70 chambered rifles and pistols. they still sell quite a few. in fact i am fixing to order a H-R Buffalo Classic pretty soon and will also reload for it. BTW, common sense tells me to use a caliber that matches the game and terrain that i'm hunting. the reason they outlawed 22s for hunting game animals the size of deer is that most people end up wounding the deer instead of a humane kill. how would you like to be shot and run off and die a slow agonizing death? this type of attitude is what gives us responsible hunters a bad name. this is the reason that gives the right wing liberals ammunition to try and take our gun and hunting rights away. most of them already think we are a bunch of crackpots and crazies anyways. we as hunters and shooters need to set examples and promote our sport in a mature, responsible and positive way. on another note, if all i had was a 22 and thats what it took to put food on the table, i would still go for what i could kill clean and humanely. just my two cents worth of opinion.
