Default Savage model 42

Seen it. Held it. Kinda like it. I think it would be a great versatile gun Any thoughts or alternatives to consider?

I have a model 24 s-e which is a .22lr over 20 gauge, I love the gun. It is cool, and very handy when driving around the corn fields. If I was you I would look for a model 24 in the combination of your choosing, because they have wood furniture, and the 42 does not!

I have owned several model 24's. I found them rather useless from a practical standpoint.

I had a Model 24 in .22LR over 20 gauge. It was a great gun for squirrel hunting, but not for much else.
