I recently detail stripped my Savage Model 72 falling block single shot rifle to replace a firing pin and have a scope mounted.

I have a question about the lubrication needed for re-assembly.

From a survivalists perspective, (In other words, not being able to detail strip it again for a long time) what would be the longest-lasting and best lube to use for re-assembly?

Please understand that I am in a dusty desert condition, so fine dust is ever-present, although I am not sure what bearing this would have, if any, on the lubrication used.

I am sort of debating whether synthetic grease would be OK, or perhaps Lucas oil?
