Default Savage 6C

I have a Savage 6C that was my grandfather's that I can't find the SN for, unfortunately my grandfather passed away when my dad was only 9 and my father passed when I was 12 so I know very little about it. Does anyone knows where the SN is hidden?

Prior to the 1968 Gun Control Act, there was no legal requirement to serialize rifles and shotguns. Lower cost firearms- notably 22 rifles- usually did not HAVE a serial number- and it is perfectly legal. Just don't REMOVE an existing serial number.

I have around a dozen or so Mossberg 22 rifles. ONE has a serial number- it was made for the US Govt as a military trainer.
What we have here is... failure- to communicate.
