Default Savage 24

Hi, I inherited a Savage mod. 24 in .22 magnum/ .410 magnum with mated barrels and selector switch on the side. Gun has less than 1,000 rounds though either barrel and has very light wear. I cant seem to find info on this exact type with the .22 mag. I know my dad bought it in 1963. How rare is it and what is it worth so I can insure it till my kids get it from me. Thanks

i'll have to post a picture of it after the 5th as gun is still in California and I wont be able to get out there till then. I checked the one web site that was sugested and it still said nothing about a .22 mag over the .410 for the side mounted selector switch. I'm just wondering if this was a short production run before going to the hammer selector.

They made many of the 22 mag/410's. Some have been converted to the hammer selector. I converted many of the model 24's as when hammer or selector had a problem the only option was to convert or make the parts yourself. It is easy to see if they were converted as they had a hole on the right side where the selector button was.

Default model 24

Ok I have the pics how do I post them on here? Could not find answer in faq's. Found out Dad bought it around 1960 from Sears in Lima Ohio. If I had the box it would look just like the day he bought it.

Click on User CP .
Go to Pictures and Albums under the subheading of Networking and click it.
Click on Add Album, then fill in the blanks to create an Album.
Click on Add Pictures and add the pictures, up to 3 at a time.
Fill in the blanks to describe each pic...

Once you've got the pics in your album, right click on one and click View Image Info.
this will open a small window and you will right-click & COPY the HTTP info in Blue.
Then you go back to the post you wish to add a pic to and Left-Click on the Picture Emblem
Which will open a tiny window and you will then PASTE your copy'd info into it.
then hit OK.

And that's how to post a pic on 99% of forums on the 'net
