I hate to not contribute a lot of knowledge to your posts but I don't have a lot, 2 years into buying guns and ammo and so much to learn. You've helped me on my questions a lot, especially talking me out of buying the "pretty" new-built Garand and ordering a Correct Grade-CMP.

I'm interested in the newest S&W 22 with the flash hider (silly but looks better than the other one) but I can't tell by the picture if those are iron sights or something else. S&W article says w/flash hider and FLDING SGT. FLDING SGT?? Picture at R&R arms and also S&W but takes a while to get to it at S&W picture. Thanks in advance.

my S&W mp15/22 came with standard metal sights. i put magpul BUIS on it alon with a red dot optic. these were the original sights.

So far mine has been a reliable producer of once-used brass. More than 1000 rounds of cci with only 2 FSFs.

That said, this is my first rifle. I'm at a loss when it comes to selecting a sling, a scope and/or front grip. Any advice would be welcome.

I have the 15/22 also and have had no problems,if you dont mind me asking,where did you find the add on parts?

thank you davem,I will check out those sites.Have you heard about the 15/22 problems with shell exploding in the chamber? I read this on a google search and curious if its common?

S&W has an MOE (Magpul Original Equipment) version that will be out any day now.

yes i have had an out of battery condition and it took out my extractor. i called S&W sent the gun back they replaced the springs and extractor and not a problem since. not everyone is having this problem. you have to consider how many of these guns are sold and just the incidents you hear about. most people dont go out of their way to say hey i have a perfectly working firearm, just when something happens do you hear the negative. other than that my M&P 15/22 has become my favorite gun.

Thats very true,I too love my 15/22 and wouldnt trade it for any other 22LR.Do you know if its a certain serial # that has that problem?My 11 year old son likes to shoot mine and it has me a little worried about his safety. Thanks davenm!
