Default S&w m&p 15-22

This is one of the first 15-22 out. Nothing fancy like the new sports. Still shoots great and lots of fun.

i have given thought to getting a rifle in 22lr in the AR style platform. just haven't decided which one i want to go with yet.

seems like a lot to spend on a rifle in 22lr for me.

Actually I'm in the market to sell this one. I hardly ever shoot it. I go through way to much ammo.

well, i'm still sitting on the fence right now. i have several rifles in 22lr and a couple of them are semi-autos, and the other option i have given thought to is getting a 22lr conversion kit for my AR.

just still undecided. so many choices!

My wife loves her 15-22. The adjustable stock makes a big difference for smaller shooters. They are really easy to clean as they come apart just like an AR. A lot easier than the 10-22. 25 round magazines are reasonable in the $15-20 range. The only ammo it has jammed on is Velocitors. It would need a heavier spring for that round. It ran some Winchester my 10-22 would not run. I have shot a lot of Federal bulk through it. I have not run Remington bulk as I wont run it in anything. Last batch I had would not even run through a bolt gun. Had to run them through a revolver and still had misfires.

My Wife's Marlin Model 60 is real picky too. I've given up on every type of ammo and only use Mini-Mags now. They shoot fine.

I had a Marlin 60 and got rid of it. It would run for 50 rounds and then start jamming. I got tired of cleaning it every 50 rounds. I wont keep a picky gun. The 15-22 is the most reliable 22 semi auto rifle I have owned. The 10-22 is good but not as good as the 15-22.
The only problem I have had with the 15-22 is its appetite. My wife will go through an average of 200 rounds. She would go through more if I did not make her load her own mags. I have had to get the spinner target welded a few times. Lucky I had a good supply of 22lr before the shortage hit. She slowed down the last year but she is feeling better if the last session is any indication. Paper sitting with no rest but lots of ammo. I have my own 15-22 but she goes through more ammo than I do.

IMO the S&W 15-22 is the way to go. Or if not in the AR design then the Ruger 10-22. I have a 15-22 and one fine little rifle and very accurate as well. I am not a fan of the conversion kits for 223/5.56 rifles.

i'm still on the fence, but you guys are making a convincing argument for looking at the M&P 15-22!

maybe it's the tightwad in me that has a hard time with spending that much on a 22 rimfire!

I have seen some sales on them at a little under $300. You have to bide your time and shop. Grabagun has a black one for $329 and CDNN has a purple platinum for $300. I picked up one at a gun show for $200. I did not quibble or hesitate.
