The one and only complaint I had was the God awful trigger. Bear fixed that real well. A trigger job, and shoot one. Bone stock they are a great little rifle.
I just cannot leave well enough alone.

I have one untouched, and one that I keep changing around.

Started with a folding stock, then added an extended mag release. Had a laser sight on it for a while (just because it seemed 'cool' at the time) grew out of that and took it off.

My next addition will be a single point sling. When foxes are around, the single point sling would work great with the folding stock to carry it with me while I'm doing the ranch chores. I've lost the last chicken to foxes if I have my way.

I would love to have the trigger worked, but can't justify the money on a .22 right now. Not when their are so many SUR accessories, and ammo to buy (when you can find it).

My charger is stock but as soon as I get a bit of spending money, I plan on sending it to Bear for a trigger job.

The TSR200 Tech-Sights have been installed. They came in the mail yesterday. Today comes the field test from 25m on reduced paper silhouettes that replicate 100, 200, 250, 300, and 400 yards.

It's nice being able to pick up your rifle and actually draw a good sight picture through this TSR200 Aperture setup. I simply could not get a sight picture with the stock sights that came with my Ruger 10/22.

rimfirecentral.com has a superstock forum dedicated to doing just this.

Some people recrown the barrel, or radius the bolt, or float the barrel inside the band, etc.

It is amazing what you can do to a stocker to get them shooting wonderfully.

Well mine is pretty much stock. I added a scope, sling and a muzzlebrake just because it was so damn cheap and looked cool. Plus my 5yr old daughter likes to shoot it now with the brake on it. She says it looks cool.

I have one of each. A box stock with my own mods, then I have my all out eye catcher. I don't have pics of the stocker, but here are some of my main rig. Sitting right next to my .308 Mauser.

I do like my Ruger with the few minor mods I made. Added a sling, added the TSR200
Aperture Tech-Sights. Pretty much all I need for this rifle. I do keep a Savage MK II-FVT w/Accu-Trigger and a 6-24x42 Target/Varmint scope on it with a 20 MOA base, bi-pod, sling.

The Ruger - like my Marlin 795 are my "back to the basics rifles you might say. I am doing a few modification to the 795 as well. New wood stock and the TSM200 Aperture Sight from Tech-Sights. And a sling of course.

Trigger pull doesn't bother me on the 10/22 or the 795, or the configuration of the stock's (though i do prefer the wood on the 795). These are my fun guns for Sunday afternoon plinking. My serious rifle is the Savage set up for 200 yard shooting and the serious competition I might get in someday, but most likely not. Within our little local group of .22 shooters, we're all pretty much using basic modifications such as the Apertures and a scope. Having fun, that's what it's all about.

I'm afraid I agree with Ram Rod "WHY??". I left mine stock for about one hour, then on went the ATI Dragonoff stock, double muzzle brake, 3 X 9 scope and bi-pod.

Ago - that is one beautiful 10/22 you have there. Nice going.

Jim
