Not at all. In fact, most of the indoor ranges here in GA let you shoot .22 rifles in the pistol range. But state laws can be very strange so you need to read up in your state.

I got a Ruger 10-22 T when they first become available. Got three extra 10 shot magazines . Tuned up the trigger and put a thumbhole varmint glass bedded stock on it. I tried various brands of ammo and found that it liked Win 22 LR HP PP ammo. Put a Burris 6 X AO scope on it. It is accurate and has shot a lot of prairie dogs. There are a bunch of after market parts sold for the Ruger10-22 semi auto action. see
