Rimfire targets

What do you shoot at?

Paper? Steel? Junk? Rocks? Pinecones? Whatever is laying about?

I have made so many targets over the years, I must be depleting the worlds steel supply...spinners-swingers-resets-fall downs-even a gallery with moving ducks and stars....but the targets my grandkids love the most...

Are these Shootin' Jacks that I recently made.

Here is a video of them in action...

YouTube - Broadcast Yourself.

These are a ton of fun, set them out, shoot til you are tired, out of ammo, or it is just time to go home.

Those look really cool. I am going to have to make some. I usually shoot at paper, cans, pretty much anything at the moment.

old car parts before I take them for scrap..... (all those .22 bullets add weight...:p) Ive made targets as well from scrap, like the big spinny kind you see in gun catologs....

I've made tettertottors 6"x6"x3/8" plat with a counter weight, just some plan fall down torso's no arms just head and torso, 1'x9"x3/8", Paper targets, empty beer cans or bottles, for when I have the scope on I shoot at bottle cap and clay pidgins.

Ever since I discovered that .22 bullets WILL ricochet on spinners I don't shoot at steel anymore. My favorite targets for set up against the backstop are empty 12 ga hulls and clay pigeons.

Zombie printouts, oh yeah.

Nice setup Ltriker. I primarily use Shoot N C or Splatter targets.

Range art........
Parts list....

1 piece of 2x4 (any length)
1 pkg of golf tees
1 piece of poster board
1 pkg of paint balls

Drill spaced holes in the flat side of the 2x4
Insert golf tees into those holes
Place paint balls on the tees
Place poster board about 24" behind the 2x4, and secure it so it won't fall over

Shoot the paint balls... they'll splatter up and abstract the poster board. then shoot the tees off the 2x4....

Cut off the bottom of the poster board where the bullet holes are, and you have Range Art.

i use paper if i'm sighting in but for plinking, it's much more fun to shoot stuff that'll dance or fly around or break apart. golfballs, empty cans, & suprisingly no matter what type of outdoor range i go to, there's always empty 12 gauge shells layin around.

speakin of which, i found that if you use softballs for skeet shooting, you can really find out how your shot is hitting. it seems like if you hit center mass, you can send that ball up to 50 feet or so straight away from you. so it's safe to say i've only done that like twice :D
