mine works great. i even use a BSA Sweet 17 6-18x40 on my Savage M93r17 rifle. BSA makes a decent scope that works great on rimfires.

If you are patient enough, keep watching the deals of the day on Slickguns.com . I

I picked up a Nikon 3x9x40 Buckmaster for my 22 rifle for 109 dollars from Cabelas. (A fantastic deal).

They are regularly having nikon scopes on sale there every other month or so.

Check out the UTG 3-9x32 Compact CQB Bug Buster AO RGB Scope with Med. Picatinny Rings, 2" Sunshade for $80. Picked one up recently, but haven't had time to get out with it. There are some older reports of the reticle being tilted in a few cases, but that seems to have been rectified. Optics look good and it has a nice weight to it.

I've got the Nikon Prostaff 4x32 fixed on my 10/22 and could not be happier with it. I would expect the 3-9x40 to be just as good.

Guys, If you're looking for a deal, Nikon has a promotion going on right now for Buckmaster scopes. Every $ in saving's is a $ spent on ammo!

I put a Mueller scope on mine. I love it and at 129 shipped it was a good price.

I bought a centerpoint 4-16x40 for my mk2tr while I save up for better glass. But as long as your not shooting in twilight hours its a pretty good buy. Holds zero and, Ive played with the wind adjustment turrets some and its returned to zero so far. Not to mention pretty clear for a <$100 scope. Some have had lemons according to reveiws, but so far mines been good to me. Just a thought.
