Remington serial number
 

I need a barrel for a Remington .22 that has no model number. The serial number on the action is #228514. Just about the S/N are the initials "RW" and behind the trigger guard is the name Remington and the initials UMC in what appears to be a trade mark symbol. The S/N range as found in the "Blue Book of Gun Values" suggest that it is a model 1889. But that same book shows a Model 1889 to be a shotgun.

I really would like to know what I have.

If you have some pictures that would help. Also a bit of a better discription will help as well. are you sure it is a serial number? None of my remingtons have a serial number just a date stamp.

the RW would put it at November of 1972 for the manufacture date.
