DefaultRemington Model 12 Firing Pin Spring

I am working on an old Model 12 which I haven't had any experience with. My Lt. asked me to fix it because I am the dept armorer...but I only know newer Shotguns AR15 and pistols.

It came with missing parts, a broken firing pin, one missing firing pin retaining pin, firing pin spring and the guide were missing as well. Once I was able to break it down I found the parts nomenclature and pic on line to see what was missing and ordered the parts and the the owners manual.

My question is about the firing pin spring and guide...how and exactly where are they fitted between the two retaining pins? Since I never saw it assembled correctly, I am guessing the forward pin fits through the notch on the firing pin (facing out left) and the rear pin fits through the oval hole/slot in the pin?

Hope my question makes sense to someone, and praying for a picture!

Thanks

Not to take anything from here but I bet you $100 that the guys in the Remington section of Rimfirecentral.com will have the answer for you.

Don't spend too much time there or you will end up like me. More rimfires than Centerfires. Bunch of great guys over there and if there is an answer to your question someone will have it.

Thanks cpttango30, I appreciate your help. I got the answer on another forum, and put it together... now I can't get the locking block to marry up to the action bar. So I am taking the gun on a field trip tomorrow morning to get looked at by a gunsmith.

I am hoping it is just some trick that I am not getting, but I have a feeling it might be another missing part that I am just not seeing.

Well, turns out there are no more missing parts, just a that the "shoulder" of the breech bolt is broken off. So I just ordered a new one of those and a new extracter and spring to go with the all the other new bolt parts.
