I agree that lever guns are getting increasingly hard to find. I just bought a 30-30 Marlin lever action after a loooooooong search! I ended up purchasing used in a face-to-face transaction that was listed on a local gun forum known for its classifieds.

I would treat any auction site like any eBay transaction...that is to treat each seller as someone that needs to prove themselves reliable and responsible before I do business. Being listed on GunsAmerica or GunBroker is easy. Following through on promises and communicating well is what separates the wheat from the chaff!

I have bought guns on almost every online auction site without any problems, and have sold several on Gunbroker and AuctionArms.I have purchased 2-3 rifles on GunsofAmerica, and each transaction went smoothly.
People generally post truthfully on these sites, and a lot of them are dealers. They don't ever want to get a bad reputation for being dishonest, nor take on the legal aspects dealing with selling firearms online.
Always make sure that the seller will ship your item with insurance, they are not responsible for any damage that occurs in shipping, and it doesn't cost much to insure any gun.

Y don't you get a henry ? I'm sure they would send ya a catalog or just order off there web page it's heneryrifles.com or heneryrepeating.com . I plan on getting a 22 from them when tax time comes around. Not trying to sound like a tool but I played with marlin levers, new and used. Along with henrys at the lgs and the henrys have alot smoother action. thats comparing a few used marlins to a brand new henry. They didn't have any used ones.

Gunbroker won't even let me sign up. The E-mail that is supposed to activate your account tells me that it doesn't like some of my info. Twice. An E-mail to gun broker w/ phone # does not get returned. I simply WON'T give them the additional info they request. (Utility bill, driver's license.)
