Old Marlin 22LR

I have an old Marlin 22. I was wondering if anyone knew how to get an approximate year on the make of my rifle. The numbers on it are 70276265. It is probably one of the most accurate guns I have ever handled. I am in the process of restoring it along with my old Hawthorne .410. Thanks for any advice and help!! :)

How old is it ??????

Finding the age of the gun is done by using either the first or last 2 digits of the ser. # We have it posted here but I can't find it at the moment, Shrek or Bear will be two I know here that are Marlin guys. Hang tight.......How old do you think it is. And what is the type, bolt, semi, other......

According to the serial number, your Marlin was made in 1970.

Thank you very much for the information!!! It is a semi-automatic. I knew that it had to be at least 35-40 years old. Now I have to find the serial numbers on my .410 because I know they about the same age. Thanks again!!!!

Not interested in selling. This was the start of my collection. Kind of my gateway gun:) I will post some pics of both of them plus my pistol.

Here is my "old" Marlin. It is a Marlin 39A Golden Mountie. It was made in 1967 which makes it 44 years old, almost a half century.

Of course it is just a young whippersnapper compared to this one. It is my Model 1873 Winchester made in 1891. So it is 120 years old!

Wow! Nice Winchester 1873..... I dont want to steal a thread, so would you do a new thread on your '73? I would like some more info on it... I just watched the movie Winchester '73 (It was pretty good!) and I own a Winchester 1895 that was made in 1899

If the .410 was made before 68 it may not have serial numbers.

The new thread in now posted under general rifle discussion.

Which movie did you watch, the original with Jimmy Stewart or the remake some years later?

I've seen both. I liked the original better.
