Default Old Mariln

My father-in-law was given an old Marlin Model 81 bolt action 22.
Haven't found a serial # and haven't taken it apart yet.
Do you know anything about it?
nothing on the Marlin website.

.it wont be rare, not to find a serial number..it could be a early 1940,s
model 81 and very earlys guns had no serial number they are great
rifles sometimes falling into the Target model..i think they hold good
value depending on condition, around $200.00 range..
