I can say that I have never disrespected the power of a .22LR,even as a 13 year old boy,I would read the ammo boxes that would say "be careful,maximum range 1.5 miles" and would be in awe of those numbers,especially knowing that my bb gun rarely traveled more than 100 yards.I think the .22LR makes an even better pistol cartridge than it does rifle cartridge because it's traveling out of that pistol about the same velocity as a .40S&W and traveling about as far with similar drop out to longer ranges,so it's a great practice round.
