Even if the new cartridge is ten cents each it will be affordable. Right now 22 wmr or 17 hmr ammo isn't exactly cheap. The last box of 22 wmr ammo I bought was close to $10 for 50 rounds. Even 22 LR mini mags are right at $7 for 100 rounds. 22LR stingers are around $5.50 plus tax for 50 rounds.

How are they going to get 3000FPS from a .25 cal rimfire?.

.14 caliber maybe?.

Your not talking about the .22 tcm are you? It's a trimmed .223 to a stubby bottlneck pistol cartridge. 2050 fps with a 40 grain pill out of a 5 inch barrel. Rock island armory has their hi cap 1911 in 9mm, this converts to the little dude with a barrel and spring swap.

from what I gathered from the article, the new round is compared to existing rimfires. So, I'm thinking a bottle necked version of the 22lr. I know that the 17HMR is bottle necked already, but i'm thinking that they will keep the diameter of the 22 bullet but enlarge the case instead with rimfire priming.

or... I could be wrong as well. we'll see

Oh goody, another boutique rimfire cartridge that everyone will swear is brilliant but won't buy.

It would be 10 years or so before I bought a rifle chambered for this new cartridge. First it would have to be proved in the field that it actually does more than existing rimfire cartridges. I would want to be assured it's not a flash in the pan.

Sounds like a big thing. I'm excited and curious, but I don't see it sticking around too long after the "new" wears off.

How different can it be from 22 mag or the 17 hmr? Anything bigger and the ammo better be cheap enough to compare with reloading a centerfire. Then it has to be up against the .204, .17 hornet, .22 hornet, etc.

I'm gonna take a wild guess and say a .24-.25 rimfire.
