Second that: not sure my old eyes can even focus close enough to see either end of a pair of fixed sites.

Hey! How did I get brought up in this conversation???

Actually buying a 10-22 is an excellent investment. Heck, 10-22's are the barbie doll of the rimfire world, dress it up any way you want to.
