Why are these the only choices available? What does the salesperson recommend? How much do you have to spend? Have you researched .22's online yet? Do your homework before making your decision.

Someone sent me a pm asking so I thought I should clarify. My son was hunting with my Mossberg 30-30. The 22 was a gift for him to use at the range. I would never let my son hunt elk with a 22. That would be illegal.

I don't agree with that choice... It really can't have much lower of a price tag, than say a Ruger 1022? And if it does, it most likely is a piece of junk.

While I personally think a Ruger 10/22 is a wee bit small for elk, unless u r back east, where even the deer are tiny! Glad you got to have some Father and son time together
