Tactical 22 is a misnomer started by the various gun writers. I think lookalike would be more appropriate.

I found exactly what you did, that it likes HV ammo of any kind. I tried the CCI MiniMags, Federal Bulk, and the new Winchester HV ammo with virtually no issues; I have NOT tried Remington ammo though. I too have dried fired mine with snap caps from Pachmayr and you are 100% correct. Out of all my "black rifle" .22s, the SIG has the best trigger hands down.

BTW - To the other poster, I think when people talk about "tactical" .22 rifles they should be referring to them as "black rifle" .22s or clones.

How's this for something different, a Ruger 10-22 M1 Carbine.

I saw the M1 carbine stock on another website last night- I think it was another website. Anyway, the pics I saw had the 10/22 version beside an actual M1 and the resemblance was uncanny. This is a great lookng stock if you like the M1 style. I have a 10/22 and am just waiting for an actual tactical style that doesn't look cheap or silly and cost an arm and a leg. I'll probably end up getting a GSG one of these days just because of its coolness. It would be nice if the GSG came in something like a .17HMR or .22 mag.- .22 longs and shorts are kind of wimpy.

Getting back to my original post on my two favorite 22's. I just dressed up the M&P15-22 slightly with the addition of neoprene ladders for the handguard, and swithing the original rear sight with an A2 type.

Mmmm...illegal deliciousness!

(Funny how ALL semis of any calibre got banned here when the *alleged* Port Arthur gunman used an AR & FN... )

I don't think this rifle will be dragged thru the mud anytime, and with the demise of trench warfare I'm not to worried about the open magazine.
