My Browning 22 Semi Auto does just fine on most brick ammo at $16 for 500 rounds. The high cost stuff does not seem to make that much difference, other than lighten the very small load in my wallet. There's a whole bunch of varmint no longer with us as a result of those cheap rounds. So yeah, like the others are saying, buy a few and do your own test.
BTW, I did use some of the gilding metal (lead free) 22 LR. They were quite lite, but they fed and cycled ok, but maybe were a little less accurate, and at $10 for 50 when I bought them, they were expensive and will only be used where required. But that's the cost of the lead ban in central California.
