Default Mossberg 702 tactical performance

I am planning on buying a mossberg 702 tactical plinkster. I saw the other thread on the normal 702 but it didn't really help much with my question. So how does it perform, does it jam often or does it work good? What kind of ammo would be best to use (preferably bulk ammo)? Thanks

well for the price point of 250 its great if you like the tactical look, for the price point of 250 it so-so at best for a 22 plinkster, gander mountain had there mossberg advertised in this weeks flyer for 199.99 at that price it be a decent/cheap plinker, just because its based off the 702 don't expect it to perform like the 702 it has some case ejecting/feed issues. it will jam every shot if there is any pressure put on the mag (ie gun resting on mag) other than that i had one for about 2 hours and it went back as soon as i left the range,as for best ammo anything over 1200fps,cci blazer gave me the best of luck but i was still having 2 jams per clip, federal ammo was 4 per clip (and yes the gun was cleaned and oiled before firing the first shot.
just my 2 cents

Do you know of anything people have done to solve the ejecting problems? I've been looking at the tacticals for a little while (until I bought my AR lower yesterday) but would like to get a .22 in the future. Most likely the 10/22, but I wouldn't mind both, if it worked properly.

some have said leaving the clip loaded to weaken the spring which some say has worked i personaly found it was just very picky on the brand of ammo it likes the cci blazers and the jams were very few about normal for the price point maybe 4-5 out of a 500 round brickother than that havent heard anything

It is based on a very cheap imported 22. The plinksters I have seen on the line at Appleseed (I am an instructor) have not functioned well enough to complete a course of fire. Their owners were very frustrated. I don't know if being "tactical" is better or worse in that regard.

I may just save up for the Sr-22 in the future. Possibly give it a sniper look.

Default ejecting problems??

Premature ejecting problems, I had that when I was younger. Got over it with age.

Lastcast,,,,,Ranger Recon, Class of 67.

what kinda budget you working with bud? i'd really advise the cmmg over the sr-22 simply for the expandablity issue (after you get tired of plinking buy a 223 upper change barrels and go "DESTROY" things

Budgets not a huge issue, i'm just looking at a reliable .22 in the future. I actually just bought my AR lower a few days ago and am waiting my 10 days before I can bring it home. I'll definitely look into the cmmg's tho. I'm not familiar with them, so it'll be interesting to compare.

I just bought one of these with the 25 round magazine and it jammed every 2nd or 3rd round. The problem is definitely the clip. Mine had one side of the top a bit longer than the other, there was a little nib of extra metal there. Once I filed it down lightly to get both sides even, it has now shot 200 rounds (CCI, and a few various Remington cartridges) without jamming ONCE. I didn't even have to file much, but it was just enough to cause FTEs.
