DefaultMossberg 702 Rifle

Hey guys,

I was just wondering if anyone had any experiences (good or bad) with a mossberg 702? I had a marlin model 60 for a very long time and loved it, but had to sell the gun a few years ago. Now I am back in the market for a .22 rifle but I'm on a tight college kid budget..but know you usually get what you pay for. Any advice will help.

Thanks

I had a 702 for awhile and it suprized me how good it shot. I did install a scope and did a trigger job on it. It was as accurate as some other rifles I've seen costing almost twice as much. I wound up giving it away to a buddy that needed a lightweight squirrel/raccoon rifle.

Welcome to the FTF community. Where are you located? You may be able to find a good used .22 rifle in your area.

Hey guys. Thanks for the information. Being that I am extremely impulsive I ran over to Bass Pro Shops and bought a marlin model 60. I said screw it, I used to have the gun and already know everything about it and how reliable it is. So for the $30 more I got a nice gun with a wood stock instead of settling.

I bought one for my son, I had to have a trigger job done on it. But other then that I have to say it is GREAT!!! My 10 year old son loves it. Its lighter and shorter then my Marlin 60. Lighter then my 10/22 (I still like my 10/22 better). But with the times we are in the cost savings for him was worth it. Great little .22 after it is cleaned and has that trigger job!!!! I even bought another one to keep in the truck for that rabbit that looks like supper.

I have one. And it shoots great but when mine gets really dirty it will not chamber the last round some times. But other then that it is a really good gun i use it for a beat around 22.

Haha. Yeah I'm extremely impulsive. As soon as I decide I want something I have to have it within 24 hours. A few months ago I shot a buddy's AR...yeah that day I bought one =]

I appreciate everyone's information though. This forum is awesome.
