Mossberg 46m?
I have 2 identical in apperance Mossberg 22 rifles. The only diffrence is that one has the number S46M and the other says 46M-B Does anybody know what that means. I am also looking for a Weaver scope mount to mount a bigger scope on one of them. It has one of those old original little scopes on it. Its a weaver but it is old does not bring in alot of light and its a little hazzy. Its the way my Great GrandFather gave it to me. I would like to modernize it a little. And are these guns good guns? Thabks for your responses.

From memory, I don't recall a S46M, but the only diff. between the 46M, 46M(a) and 46M(b) were dates of manufacture and sight differences. I don't recall a scope mount with 1" rings, but they did have a side mount for the smaller rimfire scopes. On the left side of the reciever are two mounting holes for this mount. I had a problem getting extractors one time for mine. They were model specific. After three attempts, I finally got the right ones (new at that) for my 46M(a). So there might have been slight differences in the extractors also. They are great shooters as they are. I learned how to shoot (as did my brothers) with the one that I have. I was 5 years old then and I am 57 now. I used mine this month to shoot the stock rifle event in the Monthly FTF Shoot. It still shoots very well. Oh, they were manufactured in the 1950s. Any other info, I would have to refer to the written word. Hope this helps.
