Mos Accurate .22?

What .22 rifle is the most accurate?

Most accurate factory rifle would have to be the Anchutz and/or Remington X 40. I'm sure there are some one-off custom bench rifles in .22 rimfire out there that can group under 1 inch (1/2 MOA) at 200 yards on a good day.

prolly most accurate off the shelf .22 long rifle is the Marlin... they have the micro groove rifleing down and they shoot well

a 22lr sighted in at 100 yards drops about 30 inches at 200... I would pay LOTS of money to see someone shoot a 1/2 group at 200.. MoA at 200 is 2"...
100 yards yes, with a properly tuned rifle, 200, I dont think so..

Mos Accurate .22?

I bought an off the shelf Ruger 10/22 stainless several years ago, and wasn't very happy with it. Bullets tended to pattern, rather than group, and it was real twichy which kind of ammo it liked, and had a cheap Brand-X scope that wouldn't hold zero. It sat in my safe for a few years, until I landed a job at Leupold. I befriended one of their R&D engineers, and after talking about .22's he told me to bring mine in, and he'd "see what I can do."

I got it back a month or so later. I paid for and he replaced the factory barrel with a carbon fiber lined Butler Creek model, milled the bolt face, installed a plastic buffer, new trigger, stock and a laser zero'd Leupold M-4 fixed power (4X) scope. It likes CCI Mini-Mag ammo, and I swear I can hit mosquitos at 50 yards with it. He's the guy who mounts scopes on rifles for Leupold's "special customers." Now I know why.

I would say the East German Suhl 150 would probably be at the top. The factory barrels on these guns were wicked.

Here's my Suhl 150 that was put in a McMillan stock and a Hoehn tuner added.

Here's a few targets of how it shot.

Here's a few at 25yds where the wind isn't as much of a factor.

That group looks like one single shot. But I can assure you that is 5 shots through almost the same hole. I was aiming at the center of the 10 ring. That group measured .021ctc.
