I think the Marlin 795 was a good choice. Had the Savage 64 carried the accu-trigger I would have leaned that way, but it doesn't. I really enjoy my Marlin 795, accuracy seems good enough for a low budget .22, and like most .22 semi-auto's - they're all a bit finicky about shooting dirty ammo like the Remington Golden Bullets, yet the 795 seems to do ok with the Remington Thunderbolts for some reason. I'm now shooting the CCI Blazers through mine and they seem to work very well.
