I had a 60 I bought as a kid & a dump truck couldnt haul the spent hulls that little gun spit out, I sold it about 2 years ago & it was as accurate then as when I bought it, couldnt ask for a bettre .22 auto.
I wanted a .22 auto squirrel rifle & every one I tried had rotten triggers ( & I tried them all) & the 10/22 was the only one that had a after market fix to remedy this.
About a year ago I found a 50th anny. edition mod 60 with the walnut stock & it followed me home, also found some trigger up grades for a 60 so it mite be over with for the 10/22.

I'd go with the Marlin 60.

My eyes are not what they used to be. I put a 4x32 Bushnell on my Marlin 60SB. It is now my favorite 22.

So wait, is the 10/22 a bad gun, or just not as good as the 60?

My Son has a Winchester w/ the same scope!
My Marlin 60 wears a BSA .22 special 3-9x32mm. Damb accurate! I have worked on a few 10/22's for friends. They just never quite match up.
Top rifle. Love the stock!

10/22 without a question. It shoots all cheap ammo and is as accurate as the ammo you put into it. There are countless aftermarket parts that can personalize it to what u like. Bull barrels, Trigger parts. Its like the honda civic of guns. Haha. It just works.

Was looking for a semi-auto 22 a while back and both the 10/22 and Model 60 were the last two on my list. Talked to people I know a trust who owned the Rugers and they said the same thing.

The fact a friend with his Ruger had jamming issue with three separate mags while my 60 ran though one mag after another proved I made the right decision.
The Marlin is a more accurate rifle out of the box, the Ruger has a lot of options available that the Marlin didn't until recently. Still more bits and pieces out there for the Ruger though.

The Marlin is more accurate and the Ruger is more fun.
The Marlin has a better barrel and is a great reliable gun.
The Ruger is mag fed, has an unlimited number of aftermarket parts, and its just fun.
I have had both and I prefer the Ruger hands down, but if I had to depend on it to put food on the table I'd go with the Marlin.

For Plinky fun, nothing beats a Calico...100-rd mags kinda beat everything else on the market...
and they're as accurate as a 1022, if not slightly better.
Agree with Jpattersonnh, for meat onna table, Marlin precision wins.
It has to do with the button-rifled Microgroove Marlin barrels...they're just way more precise.
Use the right ammo, and its like using a $800 Volquartsen Match barrel.
