Marlin 'Glenfield' 25 feed issue
I have an old Glenfield 25 that will not feed from the magazine unless you hold you hand over the mag and push a bit forward and up with it. Doing that, it feeds fine, dont do that, it jams. I have tried using the original magazine and numerous aftermarket ones as well. I am sure it is fixable but I don't really know where to start - maybe a shim of some type?

Anybody else have this issue before and figure out what to adjust or insert to fix it? Makes shooting this ole' girl a bit less fun having to hold it that way you do to make it feed.....

What you need to do is weld/solder/shim the top of the magazine catch. Add a little bit of material however you so choose, and adjust until the magazine sits high enough in the well to cycle cleanly. I have a 925, so it may not be the same. But if I were to have that problem, that's where I'd start. It's possible you can move the mag catch up with adjustment? Maybe.

Thanks for the ideas. I just ordered a replacment magazine catch assembly from Numrich (I was surprised they even had parts for this old thing) so I will try to install it a bit higher up as you suggested to see if it can fix my issue.

Also be aware of how you fit the stock/action together. You want a solid, consistant fit.
Many people will bed or pillar bed their rifles for proper stock/action older rifles often have worn screw holes.
Which will also affect mag alignment.

Good luck :)
