Not the ammo! I had the same problem with a brand new 925M, almost exactly as you describe. Marlin told me to take it to Williams Gunsight (Official Marlin warranty repair), a 40 mi. one way trip. A week later I picked up repaired gun (New "striker") and went to the range right away. All Winchester Dynapoints fired flawlessly, as well as everything else! Will the new "striker" hold up? Gun works well now, but I am very dismayed to have to travel 160 miles to get a brand new Marlin 925M to work properly. Letter to Marlin - I wonder how they will reply! |

I had expressed dissapointment to Marlin that I had to spend 160 miles of travel (40 mi. each way, two round trips) to get a brand new 925M repaired, to get it to operate properly. A written snail mail letter was sent to Marlin with non threatening dialog expressing my dissapointment. To this date - NO RESPONSE! The gun does work well now, but looking back I would have been able to return the gun to Dunham's, as being defective, and been done with it. I am very much a Ruger fan, and understand that in essentially all cases, if you buy a new gun, it's yours with no return option generally. I have several Rugers, and in only one case where I had a issue, they paid shipping both ways to repair the gun. Nice.
Marlin's silence here is disconserting. The gun is well worth the nice price paid, and it would have been nicer if it had worked properly from the beginning. Looking at many other posts, Marlin seems to be a good company with solid products at very reasonable prices. Being a bit more responsive to the customers concerns would be nice though. |

I bought my 925m a week ago and I noticed the hard trigger pull out of the box. Is it possible and or a good idea to change the trigger pull on my 925m? If so can I do it my self without any experience.
Also. mine came with a black fiberglass stock instead of a walnut stock. Has anyone else bought one like this?
Additionaly..... do not buy the Winchester dyna point ammo! It hits all over the place at 100yds and some rounds sound like they werent loaded properly. The CCI rounds work great. |

What were the issues with your rifle? I'm kinda disapointed with mine as well. |

My main original issue was that I had many misfires. Bad striker, as noted from my last few posts.
Regarding any trigger problems I firmly believe that no manufacturer will sell you a new gun with anything close to a "hair" trigger, for safety and legal reasons. Any trigger modification is your personal responsibility, and yes, you can get parts and information from third parties, including gunsmiths, but ultimately it is up to you. (I have done that with my Ruger 77/22 Mag. with great results. Guess you now know which gun I prefer! :-))
Commenting on Dynapoint ammo, I feel that because of the heaver bullet weight it will not be as accurate as the lighter bullet weights, but will be a harder hitting round energy wise at the target. |

Marlin triggers are "Lawyered" as many MFR's are...and they've yet to update the standard trigger to an adjustable one
But that's why they are so inexpensive...
Here's the Marlin Bolt-action trigger Mod reference pages.

Keep that in mind if you want Tiny Tiny groups
I've modded mine slightly...awaiting the next run of Boyd's Stocks for an Evolution in Sky Blue...
once that is available again, I'll pillar-bed mine in the Evo, and switch all the goodies
over to that stock.
