So I'm in Wal Mart last night and for some reason a little 22 grabs my eye, turns out its a Marlin 795 for $135.00. I'm in the market for a 22 since I've been borrowing my dad's model 80 for some time now. I liked it for a number of reasons. Marlin rifles have a good reputation, it was smaller and light so it could be carried all day and my wife will shoot it, the model 80 is a bit heavy for her. The low price is nice too.
My concern is that semi auto 22s aren't know for their accuracy. I'm not trying to bench rest with the thing but I would like something accuate to 75-100 yards. Anyone have any experience with one of these?

I checked for 3 months- comparing all the options in semi 22's.

It came down to the 10-22 or the 795.

795 had the lead in out of the box accuracy, weight, and price.

10-22 has MILLIONS of accessories and options.

I am a simple shooter, I bought the 795.

Took it home and took it down for a clean- very clean.
Went to the range and shot 10 rounds at the berm to get it cycling.
Sat down on a bench, rested my hand on the table and fired 3 shots- all within a dime at 75 ft! Blew through 250 rounds that afternoon playing, what fun!!!

No jams, etc.

I have the remington 597 and I like it very much!

It's very accurate for a $170 new semi-auto .22. I polished the guide rods and bolt, it feeds and shoots very well even in rapid fire.

I think it would take some bucks to get good .22 groups out to 100yards, but they should be decent enough.
