Default Marlin 795

I gave in to the Cabelas sale this weekend and bought a Marlin 795. Seems like a cheap entry level 22. I will let you know what I think when I get out to the range. Yep I live in town

They are a cheap entry level .22. But they shoot great. They're reliable and accurate plus they're light as heck for an adult size rifle. What's not to like? Sure it's not a target rifle. It's a semi-auto. But it's a great hunting rifle IMO. I have a bunch of .22 rifles. I probably shoot the 795 more than I shoot any of the others because they're fun to plink with.

I just took mine out for the first time tonight and man is it fun to shoot. I couldn't believe how accurate it was. I was hitting a tennis ball on a string at 25 yards while moving with the factory sights. And out of 200 or so rounds only one stove pipe which i fault to ammo. Great gun for the money.

It's a great gun for any amount of money. It just happens to not cost a lot. You can carry one around all day and not get tired because they only weigh 4 and a half pounds. And you can nail that tree rat on the run too. What's not to like? Sure it has a plastic stock. They weigh about half what a wood stock does and they get the job done. It's the cheapst way from your billfold to squirrels in the frying pan. That's a good thing IMO. Yes I can afford better but I don't think it gets any better as far as squirrel hunting goes. They aren't the most accurate rifles going but they are plenty accurate enough to nail a running squirrel in the head if you can do your part. And when you consider how light they are I don't see how it can get better for squirrel hunting unless you're doing the sit down and wait on the squirrels to come to you kind of hunting. I've put a bullet in a squirrel's ear from 50 yards away with the sister of the 795, the 60. It would be just as easy to do it with the 795.

My wife has almost 1K Rounds through her 795, and she absolutely loves it. She's got 10 Mags for the Range, so she can load up at least 100 Rounds, instead of having to Reload during the Range Trip. Her 795 shoots just as accurate now, as it did the first time she shot it. I asked her if she wanted a Boyds Stock Upgrade for Christmas, and she said that she's happy with the one it came with. She uses a 3-9x40 Simmons Scope on it, and has a Caldwell Bipod for Bench Shooting. She shoots Federal & Winchester, and the 795 eats them right up.

You'll be happy with your New 795. Get it to the Range, as soon as you can.

I've been searching for a 795, everyone is sold out. I guess it's because of the holidays.

I thought I was the only one that did that! I only have 7 mags for mine. I guess I should buy some more!

I've seen them at CDNN before, as well as CTD and Midway. Prices for the 10-Round Mags range from $13-$20.

FYI, the Part Number for the 795 Mags are 707135. Some folks get them mixed up with other Marlin Mags, and sometimes they work, sometimes they don't!

Best of Luck!

Cheers!
