Marlin 795 .22 Semi automatic

What is The right ammo for this rifle

22lr (long rifle) rimfire ammo. I prefer Federal brand in the 500 box... Good luck finding any in that caliber though.

Just saw 1100 rounds for $199 on gunbroker. Absolutely ridiculous, not against making money but against taking advantage of fellow shooters.

But I can only use .22 lr ammo only

22 short will jam it... Do not load 22 mag... Have never tried any shot shell 22... I would only use only what the factory recommends. What do you want to shoot through it ???

22LR is what that rifle shoots, and either standard velocity or high velocity will work fine. I have very good success with CCI minimags, or Blazer, it also shoots Federal Bulk fairly well also.

What my friend here said... but I've had problems with jamming using Blazer in my (aftermarket) 25 round magazine... but not in the factory supplied 10 rounder ????? .... Just throwing that out there, your milage may vary...

I use CCI Standard Velocity or Remington Sub-Sonics, have no problems. Remember each rifle is different and some will like different rounds! Cliff!

I hear you man. I think it's the (again...aftermarket brand) mag rather than the Marlin itself though. Knowing what I know now... I should have spent the extra and bought a Ruger 10/22 simply for the amount of custom parts available for it.

I have had great results with Winchester M22 rounds and Federal. Like the others stated .22lr ONLY!!! The recoil spring is not soft enough for subsonic rounds and you will end up getting a lot of fte/stove pipes.
And no Hypervelocity either.

NC1760, I like the Ruger but all the extra parts would run even more money just to be as accurate as a Marlin. Sure it would look kewl but the marlin is a classic American rifle.
