Default Magazine or ammo, Butler Creek

Not sure which is the issue but I'm leaning toward the ammo. First time out I only had CCI, the first 3-5 shots wouldn't fully cycle but ran great after, final 20 rounds cycled great. Today I finally ran some M22, no problems at all. I didn't have enough time today so I marked mags. Ran 2 with CCI and 2 with M22, next time I'm going to switch ammo in the mags and see.

Anytime you have a long magazine spring you are going to have issues here and there. I run butler creek/promag magazines in my 10/22. When I have an issue I just wash the magazine with warm water and dawn. They start shooting again until I stuff more trash in the magazine or bullet lube gums it up.

A friend gave me all his butler creek magazines when the ruger magazines came out. The ruger magazines are better but they are not so good I would give away all my existing magazines.

CCI makes good rimfire ammo but the Blazer's suck. I shoot all types of premium CCI ammo with good results but I avoid Blazer's in all calibers.

I never have issues with CCI Blazers In 22 or Major CF calibers. my Issues with Remington Thunderbolts are well documented,..But I would only shoot the Last 40 I have as a last resort(like the famous Bar Rest. In the Excalibur Hotel In Vegas,..you only go there when there is no other choice,..Just Ask Vikingdad!!!) another ? John: I saw in Sportsmans Guide a device which makes 22 RN's into HollowPoints if the bullet Lead In "soft" lead,...Your Thoughts??

.22's are so finicky. I have mags that I match to ammo for reliability. When I can get it the Federal 550 boxes are all I use, not because they are the best but they are the most reliable in MY setup. Well most reliable of ammo that I tested...

My suggestion is find a combo that works and stick to it.

I've shot about 500 m-22 .22lrs, and they were all for gating to see how well functionality was. I hate them!!!!
I'd pay with my left big toe to get a boxof federal as opposed to m-22

I don't see the point. All the 22lr has going for it is penetration. I only use hollow points for target shooting. When I shoot small game hollow points ruin a lot of meat. Plus they lack the penetration to take large game when opportunity presents it's self. In fact, I seldom use a 22lr for hunting any kind of game. I almost excursively use a 22 wmr loaded with PSP ammo for all types of small game hunting,

I bought some Aguila Supermax rounds at a little hardware store. They drove deep dimples into my steel, rimfire target.
