I'm definitely not what you would call an expert when it comes to wood. The wood was so light I would never have even considered black walnut. Black walnut it is then.

And actually, my stock was so bad that it almost looked like it was hewn with a dull hatchet. But then again, it had a purpose. It didn't have to be pretty. Now it's one of my favorites.

i heard something about the fr-7's not being as strong as the 8's?...

cant remember what it was about them but i would guess the lower number has something to do with that??

of course i could have bought the fr-7 from the flea market last week for 90.00bucks,but only had 60.00 with me & couldnt talk the guy down...:/

it was rough though...and the chamber /barrel was pitted very badly...so maybe i got the better deal saving my 60.00 and walking down the next few rows and bought 400rds of 7.5 swiss GP11 ammo for 60.00 bucks...

I've got one too, but mine won't eject right unless I yank the bolt back fast.
Otherwize it drops the spent round and jams when the bolt closes.
No other problems from this very accurate cheap rifle.
I notice that it has a dovetail cut on top of the reciever has anyone mounted a scope on there's, if you have where did you get the scope rings?
I have tryed but I can't find a mount or rings small enough.

mine is now sporting a cheap 15.00 wally world special.of course air rifle scopes will work with .22rimfires too ..like bigdog 57 said...you might have to under cut yours?....i didnt...but i did file a very little off the bottoms of the rings. i did screw up the iron sights while taking them off...i should have used some hi mount 3/8 rings, and wouldnt have ran into this problem..:/..live ya learn i guess...?
