M&P 15-22 for rabbit hunting.

Will post pics in the future...bought the M&P specifically for rabbit hunting, light accurate enough to 50 yards. Works like a charm. ;)
Put a simple NC Star quick detach scope on it and have put 6 in the freezer in 3 days. All with one shot in the front shoulder. From 5 to 30 yards. :D
Put a 2 point sling on it after the first day, bought 2 short 10 round mags for it and got to admit, one of the nicest little hunting rifles I own.
IMHO

Dont have to pick pellets out of the meat with a 22 :D

And 'better' is relative. an AR-platform .22 is all kinds of cool. :D

3in. magnum BB`s go straight through.......

I think the OP was talking about HIS rifle, not asking for opinions on what might be better.

And the AR would be a LOT more fun to shoot rabbits with than a shotgun I would think.

But, safedman, don't you think you might tear up less meat with a head shot?

Big fan of the Smith MP15-22. We have harvested 6 rabbits and had a ball shooting up steel targets. Put a Nikon M-223 1-4 on one and a Nikon ProStaff Rimfire 3-9 BDC 150 on another.
Very accurate and a lot of fun to shoot.

Where did you find the 10 round mags?

bman940 11-28-2011 02:48 AM

The Mags I have I bought on line. Mine are 25 round, I know Smith sells some 10 round mags too. For my son, the more bullets the better!
