Default Looking for some opinions

Hey everyone I am new to the forum and I was just looking for some advice on wether or not I would be getting a good price on a particular gun. I don't have all the specs on it but I will do my best to describe it the best I can.

The gun started off as a ruger 10/22 but has had every single piece swapped out on it. It now has a custom stock that I priced on a site as $150 as well as it has been changed out from the semi-auto to bolt action with all match grade pieces and all of it has been taken to a gunsmith to be worked and polished to perfection. The gun also has a high quality barrel that is much thicker than the regular barrel and staneless steel. I think i was told it was a bull barrel or something like that. I know it is a floating barrel that is not round and is more of an octagon shaped. It also has a high powered scope that I priced new at just under 300. The whole trigger assembly was changed out to a custom trigger that is a two stage trigger with a breaking point of 6oz. The action is smooth as glass and everything works perfectly. The person is asking 700 for it.

So my question is do you think that this is a good price? I wish I had pics to put up of it but I do not at the moment. I will try to get some and post it If I can.

Thank-you in advance.

Pretty hard to ever put a price on a custom gun. The buyer is the only one who can decide if it is what they want at a fair price. Caution is advised on buying a custom gun as you will seldom see it go up much in value as you are dealing with a very small number of people who want to buy that particular gun at such a price. Could be a bargain if it is exactly what you want.

I would put a few rounds down range with it. And is it exactly what you want. If its not save the money and build what you want.

I'm just signing in to see pics of the bolt-action 10-22. It sounds interesting & unique.

I think there was a kit for the 10/22 that locked the bolt closed to fire sub sonic rounds keeping them a little quieter than if the bolt cycled.

Probably this kit here, or one similar.

Excuse my ignorance but, if the receiver, bolt, barrel, stock and trigger have all been changed, whats left that is still 10-22? The action and magazine?

If I remember right, the 10/22 can be built almost entirely out of aftermarket parts. Doesn't leave much Ruger in it after that.

Ok I finally got all the info nailed down so I can give a better list of everything with some pics.

here is a break down on the rifle:

(1) Stock 10/22 for receiver

(2) Fajen Thumbhole Silhouette Rifle Stock

(3) Green Mountain Ruger 18x.920 Stainless Fluted Bull Barrel

(4) Burris Adjustable Scoop Mounts with Pos-Align inserts

(5) Kid Two Stage Trigger

(6) Kid Straight Trigger

(7) Kid receiver Pins

(8) Simmons White Tail 6.5-20 x 50mm adjustable objective with ¼ MOA

(9) Scope Caps

(10)Extra trigger assembly with ; Volquartsen kit part VC10HB

(11)Extended Magazine Release

(12)Floating barrel

(13)Receiver is a bedded fit to stock

(14)Rifle Cover

(15)Two stock Ruger 10 round clips

(16)Bunney Ear Bench Rest bags

And some pics.

I'd be happy to hear what anyone thinks about it.

Nice rifle, and seller certainly used some well named components, and looks like a buildup I did back in the 90's but of course with other named components. I would offer the seller $550, but not go over $650 to keep at a reasonable buy. I have a "real Fajen" stock on my build, ask seller if this is real or a repro. Real Fajen's are worth more in my opinion.Yes Fajen style stocks are made today, but by other stock makers who bought out Fajen's equipment and use his name for this stock and there is a way to tell. Just ask seller, if real, he will know.
