My best .22 rifle is a Winchester model 72. Now it is old school, and hard to find, because not a lot of them were made. It has a heavy barrel, and is bolt action. But it is tube fed with 17 to 18 rounds depending on the tube follower you have.

I only have the original iron sights on mine, and with my old eyes I can still pop full soda cans at 100 yards. It is deadly on ground squirrils, as this is why my dad gave it to me. To eradicate ground squirils on our farm. That was 50 years ago. LOL This rifle was my Grandpas originaly.

My Henry and my Savage MKII with scopes are very accurate. Neither one of those rifles are very expensive. My Ruger 10/22 has a tapco stock from the factory and cost a little more than the other two. Its not as accurate but its not far off either. For squirrels and casual target shooting any of them are fine. Depends on what you like and want.

Ruger 10/22. My mother bought one for my 8th birthday, and I currently own 4. Nothing puts a smile on my face like dumping a 25rd. magazine knowing I spent less that a dollar. Although when my old surplus ends, it will be closer to $1.14 at today's bulk prices.
