I see many threads on people wanting advice on a ar platform .22lr and i have seen everything recomended except for the cmmg evolution. I was just wondering why, since the cmmg has a true 5.56 lower mil-spec and a dedicated .22lr upper, barrels can be switched, it accepts all ar parts and functions as a ar-15 does, not to mention they are wonderful guns.
not trying to get anyones panties in a bunch on this just asking

No bunched panties here pooky. I've mentioned in other treads, I'm on a budget. The cmmg conversion kit is between $350 and $400. That's double the cost of my 22 rifle. That's getting close to what I paid for my entire AR-15. That and if I'm at the range one day and I want to shoot both .22 and .223, with a conversion kit I'd have to mess with swapping out parts. And at my indoor range, the bench is small and space is cramped. I'd rather just have a separate rifle. Absolutely nothing wrong with a 22 conversion, for those who want it and can afford it. Just not for me.

Accuracy. This dedicated .22LR upper with the proper bore diameter and twist rate for rimfire ammo, sitting atop a home made lower will run circles around my factory 5.56 conversion all day long.
