Considering trading my gsg 1911 22 for a savage 17hmr.. thoughts?

I would go for it, from my own experience, I traded mine for a spotting scope, I hated that gun. I may have got a lemon, but it wouldn't feed a full mag of any 22 I put into it.

I have had just the opposite experience. I know there are many reputable people here who swear by the gsg/sig 1911 line. But savage is a great brand and you definitely wouldnt be getting a bad deal on the trade. Just dont get the mossberg 817. That thing was a turd and a half.

Oh, i love my gsg, but for how little i use it (simply a plinker), i feel like id be getting a really good deal. Also have the opportunity to POSSIBLY trade for a rem 700 223

Looks like an hr to me, wife's cousin has one and its a real tack driver too, he's got a big ol bubba scope on it, and can reach out pretty good on a calm day with it.
